Discover Long Pond

Our Saturday, May 16 "Hike" of the Month will be a short paddling excursion on Long Pond. Bring your canoe or kayak (and bug dope - the black flies are out!).

Long Pond is a small, 31-acre hidden gem off of Long Pond Road. It can be circumnavigated in an hour or less.

To find the pond, look for the mailboxes 40 and 42 on Long Pond Road. Take the paved drive near the mailboxes uphill, passing a gravel drive on the right. Go straight on the unimproved dirt when the pavement swings left to a private home. 50 yards later bear left to find the boat launch.

We will meet at the boat launch at 10:00 am. Car pooling is encouraged since the launch area is small. You may wish to bring binoculars or a fishing pole. There may be room in boats available for those that don't have them, but that will be catch-as-catch-can. Everyone must wear a life jacket / pfd.

Please bring a trash bag with you. We'll do a quick spring trash cleanup before we leave.
